Very usefull video! I am an emerging artist from Spain. Personally I have tried both and clearly prefer my own website. I have shown my artworks in several market places and never received any feedback or interest, even when I tried ads with them. On the contrary, I have much more interaction at my website and even sales!
I would also mention the social networks as a very interesting platform to get visibility, specially instagram works very well for me!
